Earlier this week, cadets from across LASER had the honour of representing the RAF Air Cadets at The Pride of Britain Awards, providing a guard of honour on the red carpet. The show will air on 7 November, on ITV at 8pm.
Cadets came from 282 (East Ham) Squadron, 308 (Colchester) Squadron, 1846 (Southall) Squadron, and 2433 (Ramsgate & Manston) Squadron, the squadrons which were selected to represent the region for the RAFAC Lees, Marshall or Morris Trophies this year.
Face to face with the stars
Seventeen year old Cadet Mucheera Lakhanpal from 282 Squadron was photographed with TV presenter and Strictly Come Dancing winner Ore Oduba, he said “ It was an excellent evening and inspiring to see all the celebrities”.
As well as performing the ceremonial duties on the red carpet, fifteen cadets were invited for an extra special role, as they lined the stage of the show. Honorary Group Captain Vorderman, RAF VR(T) was the host of the awards ceremony, and the cadets joined her on stage. 17 year old Cadet Corporal Rebeca Zavoianu from 308 Sqn. She said that “going on stage was nerve wracking but amazing, being so close to Prince William, the Prime Minister and Jeremy Corbyn. Certainly not something that you expect when you join the Air Cadets”.
