Each year cadets from the Army Cadet Force, Sea Cadets, and RAF Air Cadets come together to compete in the Cadet Inter Services Skill at Arms Match (CISSAM).
This three day event sees cadets firing the L98A2 Cadet General Purpose Rifle, and the Light Support Weapon (LSW) in a series of different matches. 2017 saw a number of entries from London & South East Region teams, including some of the very top performances in the entire competition.
Huge congratulations to 31 (Tower Hamlets) Squadron whose “A team” were the top scoring team in the overall competition – defending their title for the third year in a row. The team also won several of the individual matches within the competition, bringing home the Defence Match trophy and the Team Snap Trophy. One member of the team, Cpl Augusto Viera also secured the trophy for the top individual score across every cadet across the three services. The squadron’s B team placed third overall in the competition, and the C team placed fifth – a first for any squadron in the competition.
241 (Wanstead and Woodford) Squadron also brought home a huge range of trophies, with some spectacular individual and team performances. Sgt Yasmin Sachdev won the Urban Contact Match, with a score of 99 out of 100. The squadron’s “A team” also won the Advance to Contact Match, the Advance and Reorganisation Match and the Section Match.
1838 (Elm Park) Squadron also proved themselves in a fantastic final round victory in the Falling Plate Competition.
Between the three squadrons, 21 cadets earned prestigious “Cadet 50” badges, which were awarded to the top 50 shots in the competition, across all three of the Cadet Forces. A massive well done to all of the cadets, across all of the squadrons and regions who took part in the competition.
